Intern Sponsorship
The Summer Internship Program is a cornerstone
program of The Ad Club. The goal is to expose minority students
to opportunities within the Boston Advertising/Communications
Industry and to help increase the level of diversity within
the industry. Each year, The Ad Club signs on a number of
different companies as work-site sponsors. These companies
include Advertising Agencies, Marketing Departments of client
organizations and Media Outlets. The interns are recruited from top schools across
the country, with a focus on those residing in New England.
In 2005, the program consisted of 25 interns from schools
such as Harvard, Brown, Boston College and Boston University.
We make certain that all candidates in the program are bright
and qualified. The Ad Club acts as the facilitator to the program
by reviewing submitted applications, scheduling interviews,
and placing the accepted students at the varied work-sites.
The Ad Club acts as the main contact for all aspects of the
program leading up to the summer. Once the program begins
in June, the main contact becomes the work-site supervisor,
who remains the contact for the entire 10-week program.During the program, the interns will participate
in three different program areas. They are as follows: Work-Sites:
Intern(s) will work at your organization full-time for the
10-week program. The company is responsible for providing
the student(s) with a supervisor, who they will report to
regularly, and is responsible for providing the student(s)
with a challenging work-load. This program is a paid program.
Students will receive a total stipend of $3500 for the 10-week
program. The Ad Club will contribute a portion of this stipend
to member companies--50% to Trustee members and 25% to Corporate
members, and the work-site company will be responsible for
the remainder. The Ad Club will provide the contribution to
the sponsor company prior to the start of the program. Friday
Forums: The Ad Club coordinates Friday Forums which
happen approximately every other Friday throughout the summer.
These forums are a time for all of the interns in the program
to get together to interact with each other and to learn about
the industry beyond their internship responsibilities. Some
Friday Forums are held at The Ad Club office with speakers
from the industry, while other Friday Forums provide the interns
with an opportunity to tour an Advertising Agency, Television
Station, Radio Station or Marketing Department of a client
company. Interns should be paid for the hours of the Friday
Forums. You will receive a copy of the Friday Forum calendar
at the start of the program. Mentor
Program: Networking is an important part of breaking
into our industry. Although so important, many students find
it difficult to approach an established executive in the industry.
The Mentor Program provides the interns with an opportunity
to meet with professionals who have agreed to donate their
time to the program. The interns will be scheduling meetings
with Mentors. We encourage them to try to schedule these meetings
during lunch or after normal work hours. Since schedules can
become hectic, we ask for your understanding if your interns
schedule meetings with their Mentors during work hours.Ready to sign up to Sponsor an Ad Club
intern? Fill out the Sponsorship Application below!
Once we receive your completed application, we will count
on your participation. If you have any questions, feel free
to contact Jill Dmohowski
for clarification.
