Web and Email Designer
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Web and Email Designer collaborates with the Marketing Department to create design solutions for web, email and interactive communications.
Responsibilities include:
- Responsible for consistency and feel of the Road Scholar/Elderhostel website and email marketing campaigns. Maintains regular updates to ensure website and emails are engaging and accurate and reflect the mission of our not-for-profit organization.
- Design landing pages for marketing campaigns.
- Design email templates and work with vendor to create over 200 email campaigns annually.
- Design web plugs and banner ads to support marketing efforts.
- Optimize website for search engines.
- Research trends in web and email marketing.
- Participate and collaborate with writers, designers and project managers in concept development and online creative strategies.
REQUIRED BACKGROUND AND COMPETENCIES
- BA or BFA degree in graphic design or similarly relevant degree
- Must have portfolio of HTML/CSS emails, landing pages, and/or websites
- 2-4 years of relevant experience
- Macintosh software proficiency in Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat a must; some proficiency in Flash a plus
- Strong foundation in design principles and typography.
- Experience with community websites and user tools.
- Experience with older audiences a plus. Understanding and interest in usability, and user experience with our demographic in mind.
- Knowledge of marketing standards and trends. Knowledge of email campaign best practices.
- Ability to work from concept to delivery quickly and proactively while taking direction.
- Willingness to learn and switch gears when necessary.
- Maturity and polished communication skills required; strong team player; energetic collaborator; ability to create and maintain positive working relationships.
- Detail-oriented and quality-driven with proofreading and troubleshooting skills.
