Boston.com has an immediate position available for a Senior Marketing Manager who will be responsible for planning and directing consumer marketing activities for Boston.com and its related products and services. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Manager will establish and maintain excellent working relationships with internal departments, The Boston Globe, and counterparts at NYTimes.com.
Managerial Responsibilities:
- Develops and executes comprehensive marketing plans and programs to support the company’s business objectives.
- Oversee development of high quality creative to drive sales and marketing initiatives.
- Acts as marketing ambassador for Boston.com across Boston Globe Media.
- Acts as liaison between marketing and directors of other departments.
- Staff management, training and motivation.
Marketing Responsibilities:
- Establishes strategic marketing plans to achieve business objectives of revenue, traffic, unique users and local market reach, ensuring that each tactic fits into the company’s overall mission.
- Develops marketing plans that are goal-oriented and response-driven, optimizing campaigns along the way to achieve maximum results.
- Works with analytics director to develop ongoing programs to measure marketing campaign effectiveness, brand awareness and customer satisfaction.
- Effectively leverage research investments by using intelligence to lend insights into marketing strategies and identify market opportunities and threats.
- Evaluates market reactions to advertising programs to ensure the timely adjustment of strategy and plans to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
- Develops tactics to support customer acquisition and retention.
- Oversees all search engine marketing programs (paid and natural search).
- Oversees social networking initiatives.
- Oversees all e-mail marketing programs.
- Oversees annual events strategy.
- Oversee entry into all major awards competitions.
- Creates monthly and annual marketing budget.
- Oversees development and execution of all media plans and promotional activities.
Requirements:
At least five years of marketing experience with three plus years in online marketing is a must. Experience with social networking, mobile and other new media channels preferred. Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred. The ideal candidate will have superior communication and analytical skills, be detail oriented, must be able to thrive in a rapidly changing organization and have the ability to foster and succeed in a team environment.
